The Tucson Chapter has doubled in size since the pre-pandemic days. We have resurrected our old chapter brochure, made it cleaner and slicker, and apparently it is helping get the word out. Our events overflow; several of our old standby gathering places for lunch can no longer handle our demand.
We have a number of new interest groups up and running.
– As noted above, our Wednesday Lunch Bunch is overflowing.
– Our Bowling group is having a lot of fun.
– The Book Club is reading Dancer from the Dance by Andrew Holleran and has Secret City by James Kirchick and The Prophets by Robert Jones, Jr. on tap.
– We are planning to visit the African-American Museum of Southern Arizona soon.
– Our Theatre Group saw The Full Monte and tickets have been purchased for Private Lives and Ragtime.
– We have a new blossoming interest group – the Garden Club with a tour of Backyard Garden Train Layouts under its belt. Members will be at-tending a number of free garden classes at a local nursery and are looking forward to a big sale on cacti and agave sponsored by a local society.
– Our collaboration with the local gay hiking club – The Front Runners – is growing stronger weekly.
– The Nudist Group is shutting down for the summer as its organizers are snowbirds and returning to the northlands for a few months.
– We are planning an end-of-season picnic before the heat sets in.
